The Working Group ‘Deliberation, Valuation & Sustainability’ at the Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) (www.leibniz-zmt.de) in Bremen, Germany, has a vacancy for a 5-years Post-Doctoral Researcher in the social sciences with grounded expertise in marine/ coastal sociology, sustainability, natural resource management, stakeholder engagement, governance, development, anthropology, or ethnography for a BMBF-funded position in the SÖF Junior Research Group project “Transdisciplinary Science for Sustainable Tourism”.
A successful candidate would employ qualitative social science methods and construct a grounded theory investigating social processes in sustainability decision-making. They would organize and conduct, along with other members of the research group, interviews, focus groups, and workshops. Prior empirical field research experience working in the tropics and/ or a developing country is highly desired. The long duration of a Junior Research Group project provides an exceptional opportunity for all group members to delve into their subjects, develop their skills in inter- and transdisciplinary research, and build strong networks.
