The Alfred-Wegener-Institute in Bremerhaven, Germany, is lookg for a scientific associate in polar biological oceanography.
Your responsibilities include the organization, implementation and evaluation of projects and research trips and the scientific supervision of long-term moorings and other technologies in oceanography and marine biology. Main focus are studies on the connection of processes in the water column with those on the seabed (benthic-pelagic coupling). Important is the collection and study of changes in the physical and chemical environment in the water column and its influence on plankton and benthic communities.
AWI is looking for a scientists (PhD) with proven expertise and years of experience in the fields of biological oceanography, biogeochemistry and/or marine biology. The candidate is expected to have extensive knowledge in the planktology and/or oceanography of polar regions as well as in modern statistical methods for the analysis of long term data sets and/or the use of biogeochemical models. Likewise, knowledge and experience in the use of innovative devices and techniques of quantification of biogeochemical cycles in marine research should be available.
