The Leibniz Center for Tropical MArine Ecology (ZMT) in Bremen, Germany, has a vacancy for a PhD student to start in mid November 2013. Focus of the work will be on mesocom experiments with coral reef communities (corals, other invertebrates, reef algae and/or microbial communities) under the influence of global (such as ocean warming and acidification) and or local/regional stressors (such as removal of grazers, pollution or eutrophication) in the new mesocosm setup in the MAREE (Marine Experimental Ecology facility) at ZMT.
Applicants should hold a Master or Diploma degree in marine biology, ecology, giobiology or related fields and should ideally have experience with coral reef ecology/physiology and aquarium manipulation experiments. A SCUBA diving licence (preferably German research diver), good communication skills, and the proven ability of good scientific writing are additional assets.
