3 x Bangor University-CEFAS studentships on shellfish fisheries

Bangor University, Wales, and the Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas), UK, have instigated three jointly funded PhD studentships to build further upon their existing strong collaborations in the area of fisheries science. The studentships will be jointly supervised by staff at the School of Ocean Sciences and at Cefas depending on the nature of the projects. Students will receive training and support, such as access to research vessels, at both institutions. It is anticipated that the studentships will commence 1st July 2013.

  • Project 1. Facilitating industry management of scallop fisheries using an ecosystem model for fishers
  • Project 2: Growth and fecundity of the whelk Buccinum undatum in coastal shelf seas
  • Project 3: Environmental unknowns in cockle larval development (EUCLiD)
