ICES Symposium: Effects of fishing on bethic fauna, habitat and ecosystem function

ICES Symposium on “Effects of fishing on benthic fauna and habitat: Change in ecosystem composition and functioning in response to fishing intensity, gear type and discard” will be held during May in 2014 in Tromsø, Norway. The symposium program will be structured around fisheries impacts on different seabed types and communities. The symposium´s scope is globe and aims to bring together 150-300 scientists from different countries and areas of expertise. The sessions will be divided into the following themes:

  • Soft bottom/infauna (macrobenthos) community composition
  • Mixed bottom/epifauna and habitat forming megafauna
  • Gear effects and development
